Dear Shiloh Family,

What do you do best? I mean, what do you do better than any other thing in your life? After you have answered, I’d like to ask you a couple of other questions? 1) Do you really enjoy it? 2)Who introduced you to the experience?

I enjoy hunting and fishing more than eating, and I’m decent at both. You know, “A Country Boy can Survive.” My Dad introduced me to the outdoors at a young age. However, I learned woodsmanship and angling skills from my uncle, and mostly from my Grandad. Being in nature wasn’t a mere pastime on Saturday; it was a way of life. My Pawpaw would work three days so he could fish three days and go to church on the Lord’s Day. During the Summer, we fished, and during the Winter, we hunted - rain or shine.

On the other hand, putting everything in perspective, the greatest enjoyment in my life is Jesus. Dad instilled a passion for serving our Lord at a young age. And in retrospect, even the outdoor life was filled with Jesus. For the most part, the influential men in my life did Jesus well. They taught me that hunting and fishing, though important, weren’t even relevant unless our Lord and Savior came first.

My prayer is that Shiloh does Jesus better than anything else. Our ministries can only be truly effective if He is lifted up and taught consistently. That can only come to fruition if we lead the lost to a saving knowledge of Jesus, and teach young believers how to become disciples and followers of our Lord.

This Sunday, at 4:00 in the FLC, I will be teaching an altar workers/soul winning seminar. It is not only designed to better our skills in dealing with folks who come to the altar, it will also refresh our memories and provide resources on how to effectively lead someone to the cross. You do not have to be an altar worker to attend, and you won’t be pressured to become one. You will also NOT be called out to role-play or speak. However, it will encourage you to be more secure in taking to others about salvation. Please, plan to attend.

I know it was written about and to Israel, but this passage is relevant to us as well;

Romans 10:14-15: How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? NKJV
 
Every child took it’s first bite and first step because he/she was encouraged to do so by someone who knew the importance.
