Dear Shiloh Family,
I know you’ve all heard the phrase, “If you build it he/they will come.” Of course, it’s from the movie, “Field of Dreams”. Pastor David even jabbed at it a bit last Sunday. Well, the movie ends with vehicles lined up as far as the eye can see; all coming to see the excitement of the baseball field from the past.
Well, that’s exactly what Shiloh hill looked like Sunday evening during our Trunk-or-Treat. Every parking space was full; they were parked in the middle of the driveway, in the yard, beside the church, behind the church, in Bill and Jody’s yard, up and down Kay and Park Streets, and they were lined down 2A waiting to get in. They weren’t coming to see something from the past, but rather, they were coming to see what is happening at Shiloh in the present. There were men and women, boys and girls everywhere.
Luke 5:15: 15 However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. NKJV
I am so proud of your church family. I also know events like that don’t just happen. They are successful because many faithful servants work behind the scenes and center stage as well.
While others saw kids, candy, and carnival atmosphere, I saw prayer teams, outreach teams, and ministry teams. I was warmed by the thoughts of designers, deliverers, financiers, and folders of hundreds of flyers sent to local schools and businesses. I witnessed children and families being loved, and I smiled as family units were united on our campus. I never even made it into the food court, but its existence was written on the faces of satisfied customers as they exited the FLC.
Acts 5:12-15: 12 And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's Porch. 13 Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly. 14 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women. NKJV
However, the thing that makes this Pastor want to shout is seeing the hands and feet of Jesus as they show His love to our community; a community that knows Shiloh loves them and is willing to go the extra mile to present the love of Jesus in a world that is known for taking rather than giving. They are viewing the Bible in living color and Jesus lifted up.
John 12:32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself." NKJV
Even the illiterate can read Jesus in our lives.
God bless you all,
Pastor Derrell
