Dear Shiloh Family,
Don't you just love it when your kids and grands are brutally, innocently, honest about their inner feelings. I mean, it sort of spews out like soda from a fountain; and it's often followed by that look that says, "You started it. If you didn't want to know, you shouldn't have asked."
Recently, my Granddaughter, Caroline, was engulfed in one of her favorite movies, Moana. I can't speak for yours, but have seen my little ones get so mesmerized by the TV screen, nothing or no one else exists. In their little minds, they become the hero or heroine; which is really scarry considering the ungodly content produced by Disney and other so-called family organizations.
Sorry, I digress, but you get the picture. With bellowing voice and great enthusiasm and theatrics, hoping to steal some love and attention, her Daddy burst into the room and melodically crooned a popular line from the title character, "I am Moana." I'm surprised he prompted any response at all, but the next scene in the home drama was priceless, and immediate. Without hesitation, without looking up, as if on script, the little diva flung her hands out, tilted her head back, and in perfect tune sang these words, "And I don't care!" At which point, she wafted back into the movie. Sorry Dad, but you asked for that one. Oh well, it was worth a try.
Luke 10:40-42: 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me." 41 And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her." NKJV
Churches can often become so involved in ministries, small groups and programs, they forget to care. If we are not careful, we will be singing "We speak Jesus, now don’t bother us." However, I'm so glad Shiloh isn't an uncaring church. On the contrary, you are one of the most caring churches I have ever seen.
Anita and I experienced your love and care last week through cards, meals, emails, calls, texts, and most importantly, prayers. We witnessed the love of Jesus in the YouTube stream through your singing and preaching of God's word. Love flowed through the hallways and meeting rooms Wednesday night as you loved on one another and some new faces as well. The ultimate evidence of love manifest itself in the salvation of another soul in AWANA.
What a loving body of believers you have become!
What a mighty God we serve.
Please, continue to reach out to those who are lost and hurting. Also, we have several other members who have been in the hospital or undergone surgery.
1 John 3:23: 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. NKJV
Love kept only in the heart is mere sentiment.
God bless you all,
Pastor Derrell
