Dear Shiloh Family,
In a recent pastors conference, the moderator was commenting on the seven churches in Revelation. We were asked to consider what the Lord would have instructed John to write about our respective churches.
Consequently, I couldnt begin to have the mind of God, nor would I attempt to put words in the mouth of our great creator. However, I did pray about what I would write if the task was given to me. I really give an asserted effort to tell you my heart each week, but I think if it were in the format of the Revelation, it would sound something like this:
To the angel of the church at Shiloh write, these things says he who is the under shepherd of a wonderful flock of Gods chosen. I know your works and your worship, your stand and your service.
Your prayer and praise initiates worship inside and outside of the physical building and is second to none. Spirit and truth permeate the air each Sunday.
You aren't afraid to stand on Biblical principles nor do you flee or flinch when difficult truths are preached.
Lost and hurting souls feel your genuine love and concern as ministries range from the elderly to the unborn. Youth and children are loved and led from spirit-filled passion. Discipleship is rampant throughout the lives of men and women. Your love for Pastors and staff is unmatched. To be called the Pastor of Shiloh is one of the greatest honors of my life.
I have not earned the right nor do I have the authority to say, I have somewhat against you. However, I can express some concerns. Be mindful of why we do what we do. Be careful that ministry doesn't override the master and passion not override the people. We work in the church, but the church is people. We serve in the ministry, but the ministry belongs to the Lord.
Remember, no one should have more passion for your ministry than you. Everyone cannot serve in every ministry. As we grow, we must seek out new laborers and train them in the work.
I am so proud of our church. No! I am proud of you! YOU are the church, my family. Stand fast, continue in His service, and he will reward you.
Revelation 2:7 7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God." NKJV
Revelation 2:11 11 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death." NKJV
Revelation 2:17 17 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it." NKJV
Revelation 2:25-26 25 But hold fast what you have till I come. 26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations NKJV
Revelation 3:5-6 5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. 6 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." NKJV
A large portion of my Thanksgiving prayer will be that you have allowed Anita and I to be part of your family for so many years. Thank you and God bless each and every one of you.
Thanksgiving originates in the heart of the giver.
God bless you all,
Pastor Derrell
