Dear Shiloh Family,

It was a very difficult choice. However, even after Mom and Dad encouraged the lad to pick a practical gift, one that could be enjoyed many days, the oversized, multicolored, Mickey Mouse lollipop was more compelling than his young defense mechanism could withstand.

His wise mother pleaded, "Honey, look at this cool tee-shirt, and we could read this book together every night." He was undaunted. Little sister chose a neat watch that played a game instructed by Minnies squeaky voice.

The ride home was filled with minimal chatter as each enjoyed their Disney store treasures. Consequently, as the miles morphed into hours, the sticky residue of the sucker became torment for all aboard, the sweetness swelled in the boys mouth and soon turned sickening. Imagine the ensuing conversation

"I changed my mind. I wanna play with her watch."

"Oh no, you're not getting that sticky stuff all over my new watch."

"Dad, make her let me play the game."

"Son, you made your choice. We tried to tell you, but you wouldn't listen. I'm so sorry."

I'm fearful that this scene may repeat itself with many adults after the November election. Some of us may deeply regret our ballot choices. The honey and health, wonder and wealth promises weve been fed for the past few months may turn our stomachs and rock our worlds. However, the worst decision we can make is to not vote at all.

Deuteronomy, Chapter one clearly gives instruction on how to choose leaders for a nation, and sets the standard that it is our God given right to do so.

Deuteronomy 1:13-15: 13 Choose wise, understanding, and knowledgeable men from among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you.' 14 And you answered me and said, 'The thing which you have told us to do is good.' 15 So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and knowledgeable men, and made them heads over you, leaders of thousands, leaders of hundreds, leaders of fifties, leaders of tens, and officers for your tribes. NKJV

I have never told you for whom you should vote, but as your Pastor, I feel a duty to encourage you to vote, not based on public opinion nor popular consensus, but rather on sound Biblical principles. I know some of you don't like either candidate, but you are not really casting ballots for individuals, you are voting for the principles they are promoting and the platform on which they stand. There is no guarantee how long either will be around after they are elected, but the Vice electees would carry out the ideologies of their respective parties. Therefore, choose the party that best represents the lifestyle that God's word designed.

Karl Marx, the Communist leader who vowed to make America a communist nation said, "Accuse your enemy of what you are doing, while you are doing it to create confusion."

Does that sound familiar? That's all we are hearing. Don't be confused. Let Biblical truth and God's divine leadership be your inspiration. And let prayer be the engine that drives your ultimate decisions. Then go VOTE!

Shiloh, I love you, and I love this country. I wouldn't take time nor space in the newsletter if this election wasnt a pivotal event for the future of our nation. We must all do our part.

If we don't make a choice, we don't have a voice.
